Is your water clean? Will it stay clean?

Why participate in water testing?

Thank you for your interest in getting your water tested through our testing project. Water testing is critical for understanding baseline water quality when there are potential threats of pollution to the groundwater and, or aquifer. The more testing we do the better we will understand the water in the area. This testing is free of charge.

Pembroke Clean Water is happy to be partnering with Defend Our Health to offer free water testing. In order to order your FREE water test, all you have to do is fill out this form: Well Water Testing Interest Form. You can also reach out directly to Sergio Cahueque.

To confirm, we are offering a FREE routine water test for contaminants such as Coliform and E. Coli, Sodium, Arsenic, Copper, Chloride, Fluoride, Nitrate and Nitrite, Iron, Lead, and Manganese. The CDC recommends doing this kind of test at least every 3 to 5 years.

You are getting the test kit mailed to the address you provided. PLEASE wait until the morning of the day you plan on dropping off the kit to collect your samples. Once you collect the samples please bring them to your closest free shipping location (see attached list).

The test kit comes with instructions on how to collect the water samples. But here are the most important points:
1. The water needs to sit for 6 to 10 hours without being used at all. That's why you need to collect it first thing in the morning of the day you'll drop the samples off. Just make sure nobody uses it through the night.
2. Once you are ready to collect the water you need to collect the Lead Sample first. That's the bigger bottle in the kit. Do not flush the water before collecting the sample, just put the bottle under the faucet and turn it on to high. You want to fill the bottle completely and close the bottle tightly.
3. Collect the bacteria sample (the smaller bottle in the kit). There is a powder in the bottle: DO NOT RINSE IT OUT. Fill the bottle without it splashing or overflowing and leave a small air space at the top.
4. Collect the minerals/metals sample (the two bottles that look the same). Fill the bottles to the shoulder with water.
5. Fill out the paper form. Pay particular attention to the date and time you collected the sample. Don't worry about the payment option part, you can leave it blank. Put the test kit back on its bag.
Feel free to reach out with any clarifying questions. Here's my cell phone number, you can call me at any point when collecting the samples: (207)570-9820.
